The show was originally designed around a baby that didn't have any obvious racial characteristics. Then they made him 5 and didn't change the character making him a bald fucking 5 year old that looks like a freak.
The point of the show is supposed to be about seeing Cailou work though his emotions. Almost every kids show is SJW shit. Where it went terribly wrong is how whiny they protrayed cailou.

Ultimately you're going to be able to name better American shows because America has a massive film industry and a way bigger population. Ultimately I would still say Canada has a pretty good history of animation relative to most countries especially for our size.
Canada also has pretty decent talent in film and animation and a lot of it gets exported to America, similar to how the NHL works.
