Would you live in an American suburb?
>>
wouldnt know what to do with so much room but yea
>>
I do.

protip: It's a bit shit

The only upside is that we're on a (Great) lake, and the "historic" uptown was built around rail and trolley lines, so it almost kind of resembles an actual community designed for people instead of cars.
>>
>>57090582
Well of course. That's a no brainer for me.
>>
>>57090582
I already do :)))
>>
>>57090582
Yes, but not that soulless piece of shit you posted. There are plenty of suburbs that are built around small towns instead of endless rows of McMansions.

as a kid: fun
as a teen: terrible
as a college student/neet: comfy
as an oldfag:? (probably meh)

I don't see the point in having neighbors if you don't know them (or at best just passively aggressiveness).

In a few years, I'm going to live somewhere with fast internet and few people.

Sounds like hell. Absolutely soulless. No culture. How can you have soul and culture with all of these white nuclear families?

I lived in your classic American suburb, except it was 80% rich asian-americans and not many whites
Expensive as hell, comfy, safe, and boring

3,000 square foot (~280 square meter) home on 1.2 acre (~0.5 hectare) plot in the burbs. We grow our own veggies. Plenty of room for archery, air guns, etc.

older streetcar suburb maybe, otherwise fuck no

My city has some historic suburbs that are somehow infused with the rest of the city. It's pretty neat. And of course there are a few new developments but the city has done a good job of making the expansion look nice

I do, although it naturally grew out and isn't the artificial shit so it actually looks like its for people
>>
>>57092454
hey man the burbs got culture, that's what the Wholefoods provides, delicious tension between the entitled, yoga pant wearing wives of privilege and the poor minorities frying up wings and salmon and pasta dishes in the premade meal stations and those stocking the shelves

I do and it sucks, would grade for small comfy euro town and the ability to walk everywhere without living in US megacity

North Shore peasant detected.

It's probably because the city you live in is reminiscent of a 2003 Iraq.

Safety measures are intended to save people, not property.

A steel frame or masonry walls may aid structural survivability, and the frame would likely hold, possibly with some damage. But the house would be a total loss in a strong tornado, with walls, doors, and windows blown out and everything else scoured by wet mud and debris flying at 200 miles per hour. After a strong tornado, it would be better to demolish the stone or steel building and build again from scratch.

It's cheaper to build with wood, and to rebuild with wood.

I lived in one for a few months 2 years ago and it was probably the most disturbing place I've ever been to. Over 100 houses that all have the same exact design apart from color and lawn decorations. It's so much nicer here in a semi-rural area, even though it's a very cheap place with some plumbing and furnace issues.

I grew up in a suburb but with good restaurants and shops within walking distance that also had good biking infrastructure. The streets were pristine and looked magnificent. Green lawns and trees all year long. It was literal paradise.

It was great growing up, but I live in the city centre now. I need good night life and cheap drugs.

That sort of design plan isn't found anywhere else in this city or the neighboring cities and towns. It was very soulless, as if they we're designed by robots.

This is what the average house in my county looks like, I live near greenbelt in Maryland.

It's not that bad, there's restaurants and shops down the street. The houses may all look similar, but we like it.

It's very disturbing and soul wrenching to live in such a place, it is essentially prison for those with money, everything looks the same and everyone keeps to themselves, there is an eerie silence almost all the time... It just doesn't feel right, it isn't natural.

As a kid I guess they arnt bad but as a teenager you will go fucking nuts. I can't judge them too well now since I'm older and now live in a comfy North Dakota area that essentially looks like Fallout 4 with the junk and dead looking trees all about.

However I lived in Southern California at the time that I lived in said suburbs.
>>
It's striking how little unbuilt space they leave. It's just house after house. No breathing space for kids to explore and weirdos to hang out in.

Trailer parks seem romantics places, where you can drink beer with your neighbors and don't have to care about moving the lawn too much.
>>
No, I'm ok with living in commieblock. I don't like to drive and I use car once a week or so.There is snow 9 months out of 12, so it's nothing to do on a land plot anyway.

Soulless hell holes you can't escape without a vehicle. Your only vestiges of "culture" exist in strip malls and and gaudy chain eating establishments. They're so outright superficial and desperate it's nauseating.

The thing about suburbs, even the nice ones are that no one dreams of living in them. You know that everyone who lives in them has settled and resigned to a life of mediocrity.

I don't like them. Live in the city or the country, not inbetween.
