I grew out of the pledge in 4th grade. Even then, I wasn't the only one, there were 2 others who didn't say it either. I think they both claimed religious reasons. For the rest of elementary school, almost everyone said it.
People really started to stop caring in middle school. By the time high school started, you were the edgy patriot if you DID say it.
For reference, I live in Washington, so a really liberal area. Also, non-whites were a majority in my high school.

The pledge implies allegiance to the current government and it's stability, not necessarily "America" as a concept or place. Indivisible, as in maintain the status quo of the state, to the republic in which it stands, so on and so on. Felt fascist as fuck.
