work at a international company so i pretty much just speak english all fucking day

In Catalonia we say "Merci" a lot. Many people nowadays say "gràcies" which is probably a castillianization or a latinization.
The "true" Catalan word is "mercés", so I guess that somehow we are recovering the use of our words thanks to you frenchies.
