I'd say it's simply going to go through a cycle of fixing everything that was screwing the area up gradually, which will make it one of the better areas to live in.
Frankly, if the bureaucracy inefficiency is halved we'll be doing significantly better, economically at least. That and areas where people go to work will become saturated, meaning people will eventually move back.

It's a slow and painful death. I feel like it will all be gone one day and I'll having nothing to remember it by but old photos. Used to have a big family. We'd visit my grandparent's village on the island, have big lunches together and listen to our songs. I'd pick olives with my grandmother and catch squid with my grandfather. Now half the homes in the village are owned by foreigners who turned them into shitty looking summer vacation houses. The locals have turned into depressed drunkards. Meanwhile, the kids are a bunch of swaggolos who don't even play outside and jerk off to Serbian turbo folk while playing video games all day long. I don't want it all to die, man.
