Seriously. You have so many black people living in legit African poverty, it's sad. It's a very rich country, with perhaps the largest middle/high class in the continent and the best infrastructure, but you still have all the African shittiness in some places.
Scaring white people into leaving the country is the worst way to solve this problem, however, but hey.
It's really a shame, I would love a "perfect" version of South Africa to exist. A mostly African country with a big European minority & influence, that actually functions as a first world country, with some of the most amazing landscapes in the world.

I know, they're doing things terribly.
It's a typical case of the victims valuing revenge over anything else. Apartheid ended, they got better rights, so suddenly they need to have all the rights, and white people must pay for what they did!
Like, take the police. Understandably, a white police force would remind people of Apartheid, and nobody wanted their policemen to be the people who were hitting on them when they were protesting it.
So what do you do? Fire all the members of one of the most competent police forces on the planet, and replace them with any-fucking-body you can find with a skin at least as dark as Nelson Mandela's, obviously!
I imagine it's going like that for pretty much every aspect of their political life. Sure, it's understandable that white people's over-representation in a lot of positions of power would feel like Apartheid under another name, it's a perfectly rational fear. But they still handle the situation in a shitty way.
The whole situation was shitty, anyway. The only solution was for Apartheid to have progressively ended from back in the 60's, more like what happened in the USA. Fighting to keep it for too long is what is now killing the country.

if you think of the exploits of the rhodesian light infantry and some of the south african operations in mozambique, I believe that from a purely military point of view, some successful fighting should not be completely out of the question. it is more a question of will than anything. naturally, the whites in the east would get immediately swamped, but the cape province has a low population density and could serve as a point of retreat.

Nah, it'd be more like everyone trying to make a quick buck and selling to everyone. South Africa isn't really highly strategic so most countries won't opt for intervening except say BRICS who would want stability.
