Now with an operational hard kill active protection system.
>>
>>56855322

Thats not whats going on. The F-35 production is expensive mainly because of the systems they are putting in it.

Stealth is the future, and not just for aircraft- look at all the new ships being built with stealth features.

The F-35 is trying to fit in a ton of new systems onto a new aircraft- its stealth features have little to nothing to do with it.

They find problems with every new system. Do you think there has ever been an aircraft enter production without issues found in testing? The F-35 is just drawing more attention because its an international program so it has to be open to the media- and this is the first american aircraft developed with complete coverage by the internet- so everyone with a blog or website can criticize it. There aren't any more or less problems with this aircraft than with older aircraft- but they are doing more extensive testing than in the past- and anyone can write about it. The F-16 had problems. The F-15 had problems. The F-14 had a ton of problems. Aircraft crashed after entering service and fixes were applied over decades to make them what they were. The F-35 is undergoing the most extensive testing any of our aircraft have ever gone though- well over 100 have been built- none have crashed. the "problems" are software related and getting worked on. Thats why they test them, and its built to take software upgrades and fixes after they are built.

Actually, since the internet became everyone main source of news- every new american procurement project is bombarded by idiots who think they know more than the engineers. The DDG-1000 (pic related) was claimed by an "expert" to never be able to go to sea because of its shape- it would take on water the first time it saw the open ocean and sink because it was top heavy.

The V-22 was crucified by the media because of a couple crashes in the 90s, its now the safest rotorcraft in the us military. The F-35 is no different.

Anyway about the media, i also agree, even more with the stupid "specialists" who think about they know everything just because they played too much Battlefield. Luckily here it's quite the opposite, people don't know shit about their projects or anything, people were surprised as fuck about the fact the we sell weaponry to the Arabs since the 80's.

No, they objectively aren't. The Chinese just entered into the ARJ21, which is meant to compete with a design that was first put into service in 1965 in the form of the DC-9. On top of that, they have inferior engines that are less efficient and less reliable than their current generation Western counterparts, and that's not even counting the new Western engines coming out right now. Their 737/A320 competitor, the Comac C919 is also less advanced and efficient by design (it hasn't even flown yet) than the current generation of 737 and A320, which entered service in 1996 and 1988 respectively.

They are, by definition, bad compared to the competition.

Hind helicopter was fastest when released.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mil_Mi-24#Flight_characteristics
A modified Mi-24B, named A-10, was used in several speed and time-to-climb world record attempts. The helicopter had been modified to reduce weight as much as possible - one measure was the removal of the stub wings.[4] The official speed record set on 13 August 1975 over a closed 1000 km course of 332.65 km/h (206.7 mph) still stands, as do many of the female-specific records set by the all-female crew of Galina Rastorguyeva and Lyudmila Polyanskaya.[9] On 21 September 1978, the A-10 set the absolute speed record for helicopters with 368.4 km/h (228.9 mph) over a 15/25 km course. The record stood until 1986, when it was broken by the current official record holder, a modified Westland Lynx.[10]

It's global firepower, I.E the following:

If Poland would register it's every car as a troop transport it would be the world's #1 military power, because power points.
1 Tank (let's say a renault because technology isn't taken into account) wins 10 000 soldiers (barenaked because small arms aren't taken into account either) because it has more power points.

And straight from the site:

Capacity problems. You'd be hard-pressed to fit more than 10 F-35Bs on the Canberra Class. And if you do that, it won't have the space to fulfil its primary purpose of being an amphibious assault ship - carrying troops and vehicles to the enemy coast

Even the UK's old, small Invincible Class carriers were better designed for carrying fighters
