I remember there was almost no coverage about the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks in the western media. Around 170 people died and 600+ were injured but nobody even talks about it. There is also a question of proximity and how you relate to a country. Obviously most people in europe will give a shit about european events because of how close to them it is, and not just geographically. I have personally ridden the metro in Brussells and Madrid, and I have personally visited the areas of Paris attacked in November. So have alot of other euros and americans because they are massive tourist destinations.
Add to that the fact that Islamist terror is global and people think it's a risk we all live with, which isnt the case for Chechen terrorists, Palestinian terrorists or Pakistani terrorists
