And finally, the South Korean military really doesn't want it because they need the continued existence of the North to justify their substantial annual budget. Were Korea to be reunited, they would have no conceivable enemy on the horizon.

I've always assumed if NK collapsed and reunification happened, we'd pull our troops from the peninsula as there's no longer a need for them.
I do agree though that if war happened, Beijing would almost certainly throw a huge stink if US troops went north of the DMZ. They'd probably be adamant that only South Korea troops can occupy the North.
