This has to be bait.

I'm surprised at how many of those words are literally the same as in English.
In Norwegian it would be:

Television - Fjernsyn
Computer - Datamaskin
Explosion - Sprenging/Sprengning
Data - Opplysninger (data if about computers, though)
Tank - Stridsvogn
Smartphone - Smarttelefon
Soda - Brus

Rest are the same as in Danish with small changes in spelling.

(Marsvín is another word for grindhvalur)

Ö is same as german ö.
Í is the same s ee in neet.
ð is voiced th (the, that, there)
æ is same as i in "I am"
Ó is a lot like the o in "no"
>>

>(earlier it was called Datamaskine or Datamat)
Just like Danes used to say rumvæsen and hjemmeside, but later replaced the Danish terms with alien and website (also using the same English plural forms)
>>
>>56530355
To be fair though, hjemmeside was a stupid word to begin with. It makes no sense.
>>
>>56530440
We say heimasíða, which stems from the Danish word hjemmeside. There's literally nothing wrong with it.
>>
>>56530321
Thanks bro
>>
>>56530440
>hjemmeside was a stupid word to begin with
u wot
It makes perfect sense. Use hjemmeside for "homepage" and nettside for "webpage", like we do. We also say romvesen, and I thought Danes would too.
>>
>>56530488
In Icelandic website is vefsìða but we use heimasíða if it is the website of a company/school/etc
For example, "the heimasìða of the company"
>>
>>56530355
Really? What.
What is wrong with utomjording and hemsida? What are they thinking?!

is full of shit.
It's just that people (especially younger generations) tend to use the english terms once in a blue moon.
>>
I find it interesting how the Scandinavian languages have different words for "boy" and "girl".

Danish - Dreng/Pige
Swedish - Pojke/Flicka
Norwegian - Gutt/Jente

Seems like such an insignificant thing for it to be so different.
>>
>>56529468
Elektrisitet =/= strom
>>
>>56532197
Pige sounds like píka which means vagina
>>
>>56532197
drongur (also kallur, knassi, jassur, sveinur, piltur)/genta
child of any gender: óviti
>>
>>56532420
Teknisk sett, men tenk på det sånn her. I Norge betaler vi strǿmregingen, mens i engelsktalende land betaler de the electricity bill, eller the power bill.

>Rafmagn

The story behind how this word came to be is actually really cool. Supposedly they took the greek word for amber which is elektron, and translated it into icelandic. So Rafmagn actually means "Amberpower".

The more you know.
>>
>>56533669
Örugglega
>>
>>56533687

Refresco is basically any non-alcoholic cold drink.

Soda is soda water, syphon carbonated water you put to some alcoholic drinks like vermouth, whiskey...
>>
>>56532197
And for "like"

Danish - kan lide
Swedish - gilla, tycka om
Norwegian - like
>>
>>56535357
>lide
That means "to suffer" in Norwegian, lmao.
>>
>>56535426
Yeah it's basically like "I can endure..." jeg kan lide...

The words for hug are also different

Danish - knus (or kram)
Swedish - kram
Norwegian - klem
>>
>>56535357
Doesn't tycka om also mean "think about"?
>>
>>56535426
it's a homonym, it also means to suffer here
>>
>>56535573
No, tycka (without om) means to think (as in having an opinion, like synes in Danish)
Think about would be tänka på
>>
>>56527696
>Svartfjallaland

Low effort
>>
Can we consider this Icelandic banter?
