Everything here is cheap as shit, especially labor, you can get a sincere servant who works 12 hours a day and never takes leave for $100 a month. Maids are even cheaper. The only thing expensive here is Gas, I have to pay more than a dollar for a liter of gas here

Because it's a French measurement and litre is the official spelling.

Same with metre, millimetre etc.

The ridiculous amount of tax on tobacco means that we already do to an extent. The governement gets about £15bn a year from taxes on tobacco (about the same as the cost to the NHS).

For all that food? That's over well over 10 pounds of food right there. A 5 pounds sack of potatoes alone is no more than $5. Onions are less than $0.50 a piece.

What the fuck. I can get some world class beer for $10 per six pack, and shitty beer for $5.

Why the fuck is everything so expensive in Australia?

>>56437224
Cheapest sixpacks you can get here are like $12 and they taste like shit. Sometimes decent sixpacks go on sale for $10 though.

>Why the fuck is everything so expensive in Australia?
We have one of, if not the highest minimum wage in the world.
>>
>>56437209
>>56437224
Yeah it's true, even the wage for a non-skilled job is pretty good. You get paid $1000+ a week as a full time supermarket worker for example. Income Taxes are actually pretty low as well. Cigarette and booze prices are out of fucking control though.

i thought the drinking culture is supposed to be big in aus. are you all fucking millionaires or something?

Wine is taxed a lot lower for some reason so you can get 4 litres of wine for $10. It comes in a box and we call it goon

lolno, we just piss away all our money on booze then spend the next fortnight eating 2 minute noodles and ramen until payday.

Also goon.

Not only videogames, but games, any type of car, computers parts, modern TVs, smartphones, etc. Anything technological you think.
More than half of the price of these products are basically abusive taxes. And the fucked part is that we simply don't see these taxes being investees in the population.
The tax burden is just not fair. We aren't a rich country to have these amount of taxes, this only serves the politicians to rob more and more.
>>
>>56437463
Yeah. Short for flagon. Like an olden day flagon of wine. Strangely enough though goon specifically only refers to the wine bladders.
>>
>>56437463
Yeah, it comes in a silver bladder and it's a big part of the drinking culture because it's so damn cheap. Even people with money will drink goon mixed in a punch for a party because getting shitfaced in Australia otherwise can get out of hand. Cheapest vodka might be $25 for 700mls, but you can get that for like $5-10 in USA right?
>>
>>56437579
Cheapest vodka I've found is around 10 USD for 1 liter. It gets cheaper if you get a plastic jug or buy on sale, of course.

5 liters of boxed wine is $14-$19.
>>
>>56437665
$25 for 700ml is literally the lowest hobo vodka so it would be equivalent to those gallon plastic jugs. Goon is the only thing affordable if you're a student or not working full time or whatever. Cigarettes aren't affordable whatsoever but I'm a degenerate.

>>
>>56437820
Very easy and yeah it's legal. I brew hobo cider sometimes. $1/L apple juice from the supermarket and bread yeast. Ferment it right in the plastic bottle. I ferment it bone dry then backsweeten it with more apple juice. Surprisingly it's pretty drinkable.
