Bar 101 near Queen st is pretty fun, people there are around 18-25 and drinks are the cheapest I've found, if I'm remembering correctly it's a $15 entrance fee and drinks are $5 (double vodka and lemonade, certain beers, rum and coke etc.)
Shadows Bar is the Uni bar, cheapish but closes at 11pm
Ink bar on K rd has more older people, you can smoke inside, expensive
The Dog's Bollix is more of a pub, live band and shit, more for seeing mates
Most of the other places like the Provedor, Racket, Roxy etc. are for washed up 30 year olds, or they're gay bars like Family

St Paddys is in two days so most of them are free entry on the 17th, A couple of other cheap, good student bars in the area are Vesbar and The Ferguson, I've only ever gone with groups though so I'm not sure how it'll be alone.
Wed-Sat are the days it'll be packed, and they usually don't get packed until later in the night, you can dodge entrance fees by coming earlier, and remember to dress smartly else the bouncers wont let you in
