I wanna do it. I wanna do it so bad.
Has anyone here ever tried it? What about our Russian friends?
>>
>>56327781
i really wanna do a macedonian qt
has anyone here ever tried it?
>>
>>56327781
>2 week in train
>>
>>56327781
I want to drive from Karelia to Siberia
>>
Karl Pilkington did it and he said he hated it something.
I would definitely do the transAmerican one just because there's more to see than white. and blue.
>>

Took it (out of necessity) it wasn't great
Not bad mind you just boring

I hope you don't like comfort tho, seats are well... Russian. I took the cheap tickets so that's probably why

Landscape was like a giant marsh, it looks dead, everything is grey or brown you'll want to kill yourself
But in a way it's pretty impressive I guess
>>
>>56331322
All turkroaches are banned in glorious Russia tho.
>>
>>56327781
do it then
>>
>>56331333
There's plenty to see and experience, it's just not something you would WANT to experience. Not to mention >>56331281. Russian long range trains are ancient as fuck and awful to travel in.
>>
europeans are strange
>>
It's a bunch of rattletrap old Soviet cars with returning soldiers and old gross saggy babushkas on it and it smells like pee. Why would you ever, ever want to ride on the TSR?
>>
>>56327781
>Russian friends
Ahahahaha fuck off italian rat.
>>
>>56327781
Dont do it, bro
>>
>>56327781

Do it on a bicycle.
>>
>>56327781
I'd do it but only if I had enough money for an expensive comfy cabin
Not that I can't handle discomfort but I could drive the same road so if i'm going to spend 2 weeks in a train it'll be on my terms
>>
>>56327781
I didn't know it exists. lol. Somebody goes past Urals, it's pretty ebin.
>>
There a Vice video where someone does and 90% of the time he gets harrassed by drunk bydlo.
>>
>>56334016
>Vice
fuck off you cum-guzzling faggot
>>
>>56327781
Karl Pilkington tried to do it, he quit pretty soon into the trip and went instead to China to see a midget village.
>>
>>56334072
>he has never seen the old vice documentaries

a lot were pretty good, the North Korean one is nice
>>
>>56334117
no, they're shitty propagandist pseudo-journalism on par with buzzfeed
>>
>Russian friends
Lol, yeah, definitely try it. Swell idea.
>>
>>56333950
Do you guys actively engage with the far East?

For instance, I live in the South East US but have friends in Alaska, Washington, Oregon etc. I know what goes on their on a daily basis.

Is it the same for Russians?
>>
>>56336804
There*
>>
>>56327781
>russian friends

never go full retard friend
>>
>>56334072

VICE north korean ones are god-tier documentaries.

>you'll never be "Fish"
>you'll never show those Norks mongrels who's boss in that place
>>
>People would spend money to do this

You'd have to pay me bigbux, especially considering the dangers of getting jumped and robbed by bydlo in some backwater Siberian stop over.
>>
It would be great if you had a time machine back to 1901 where you could sit with the nobility and discuss Goethe instead of cyka bylat people and smelly old grandmas.

Since this is not 1901...
>>
>>56336951
It's not like there are many people who you can discuss Goethe with in the US.

Here's what a 2nd class compartment looks like.
4 beds.
>>
>>56327781

When I take the train here it's like look out the window, it's taiga, then there's taiga, then there's more taiga. This would be 100 times the same.
>>
>>56336804
No
only rich people visit they relatives on the other end of country
>>
>>56337300
I'm keking at the idea of some Varg getting all excited over a boring train ride.
>>
>>56337386
do you share it with random people?
>>
>>56340360
pls no Khan.

Also, why havn't China and Russia jointly annexed you yet?
>>
>>56340449
No - that doesn't make any geopolitical sense.
>>
>>56340398
I went with my buddy in a 4 man compartment. So yeah. But at least on the Trans-Mongolian line they are mostly tourists. We were accompanied by a nice guy from New Zealand and a Swede in our compartment.

Although we were a bit lucky with our random compartment buddies, as another guy we met on the train had to share his with a Mongolian family that spent five or so days trying to scam him and steal from him.
>>
>>56340494
Yeah, only really weird Mongolians would ever use to the train to get to China, plus there's that shit long gauge cross-over on the border. Fuck that, anyone with any sense would just fly - it's almost just as cheap and way quicker.
>>
>>56340492
So having you as a buffer between them is mutually convenient?
>>
>>56340492
Oh come on, who DOESN'T want some more empty steppes?
>>
>>56340494
I figured that would be the case
>>
>>56340607
Exactly - it's the Russian sphere of cultural influence but the economic Chinese sphere.

>>56340622
Russia already tried and failed, China can just invest money without having the political mess.

Real life isn't an autistic Paradox game, son.
>>
>>56340641
Interesting, I would have thought that Mongolia is more culturally linked to China than to Russia.
>>
>>56340641
It was sarcasm. Nobody wants to take over Mongolia, there's no reason to.
>>
>>56340699
It is surprising.

>>56340705
Exactly.
>>
>>56331322
no roads
>>
I also always wanted to do it, but i feel trains have lost their charm. Now its all flashy and compact.
pic related is obviously extremely fancy but i would be happy with old worn out wood floors, panels and such.
>>
>>56340699
They were heavily aligned with the Soviets.
>>
Why is everyone saying ">russian friends"? What's wrong with saying that
>>
>>56340794
because stupid white niggers commies can't be your friends
>>
>>56327781
I'd like to try it solely for the fact I love being in trains.
Comfy as fuck
>>
>>56340916
But russians are cool, they have nice food and nice women and nice retired red army vehicles for sale
>>
>>56341136
>But russians are cool
explain it to others
>>
>>56341275
What do you mean?
>>
It seemed like absolute misery on an idiot abroad
>>
>>56334117
This

Liberia and North Korea were the only god-tier documentaries

I will be waiting for you in Khabarovsk
>>
>>56333777
It's cheep now for you, because our nation's currency is falling. For example, we have now 200% more tourists from Norway.
>>
>>56337215
Yeh but the whole romance of the thing...
