The hardest part is the first step and figuring out why to do things a certain way, or how to wrap your head around other concepts. Once you have learned one programming language even in its simplest form, you can learn almost another other language because their sytnax is almost the same for the most part.
I would say it's a bit harder than "any idiot" can learn it but it's not even close to having to be Neo matrix hacker level. If you can do basic algebra (and I mean basic), you can do programming.

I personally like just buying a book and getting stuck in to it, and google anything I don't understand. But a LOT of people really like Codecademy. You basically type the code into your browser and it evaluates it for you and teaches you that way.

If you have never even wrote a 'Hello World', the Pascal language is usually used to teach the basics, but you can also learn the basics thought Java, C, C# or any other language.
Choose a language and then google some youtube tutorials. Every time I get stuck at anything I go to this site stackoverflow.com, the people there are really useful.

Stackoverflow is technically helpful but I found the community there is pretty anti-beginner. They will answer your question but they're so fucking smarmy about it it scares off a lot of new programmers.
