'Wizard' is an old English word to a refer to a philosopher or sage, it just means 'wise one' and doesn't have any intrinsic connection to magic.
Mage/magus/magi were priests in Zoroastrian Persia.
So technically only 'sorcerer' refers to someone that uses magic.
