I worked in a pharmacy for years and yes there is a THC pill. The issue is that the medicinal effects from marijuana do not stem solely from THC, but actually from the plethora of other beneficial chemicals in marijuana.
The only reason a THC pill exists is that you can patent it, and sell it at a much higher price than it's actually worth.
You don't need to smoke marijuana for medicinal purposes. There are edibles, tincture, tea, vaporizing, etc.

The medical industry.
Contrary to the popular narrative that's been spread, the obese and smokers cost less money over the course of their lives.
It adds up to billions of dollars a year, much of which winds up in the hands of the big pharmacy and the medical industry.
They normally slowly take all your money when you live to be 85, breaking hips and having surgeries while eating 30 expensive pills a day to survive an extra decade. They can't do that when you suddenly croak at 70. They are trying to ensure there isn't going to be a drop in income as the baby boomers die off.
