Traffic, lots and lots of traffic. It has good weather throughout the year in most places and has a very diverse landscape from mountains, to desserts, to forest, to coastlines. It's the most normie state in the country and there's always something going on. Also the most hated state in the union.

It's nice. You can pick the type of environment you want to live in and find it somehwere in Cali. We have desert, beach, mountains (pic related), valley, rivers, forests, big cities, etc. Whenever I look up "[X Country] diaspora", the largest pop of them in the U.S. is almost always in California, so if you are learning a language or like a certain culture/cuisine you can go to the regions where most of those folks live and see what's up. You can find super ethnically mixed areas or little "enclaves" of whatever you want. Alot of non-Calfornians come here for Hollywood, so you'll always find amateur/undergound musicians/singers/rappers/filmmakers everywhere. We have alot of hippies obviously, and also alot of anarchistic punk kids. But then of course we have alot of farmers too (tend to be middle class or wealthy conservatives), and then the Silicon Valley tech types.
To me it just feels like a place with every kind of person so it's very exciting, and the nature is quite pretty as well. 10/10 would continue living in

Its nice, but the cost of living it too damn high, and it has some really terrible and bullshit gun laws. Like 10 round mag limits and such. So if you enjoy guns, it sucks.

Good universities, good weather, not enough rain though. Too much traffic in LA area, sometimes want to move just to get away from the traffic and failed public transit system.
Too many people are transplants which makes it impossible to find good work, too many poor immigrants which makes it impossible to find bad work, so a lot of young people are unemployed.
Good craft beer all over.
I don't like the beach, really in the end most people who like the beach are transplants from places with no beach.

Cool in some places shit in others, it's easily the most beautiful state in the US. The bay area is literally tumblr the metropolitan area. Southern California, despite the memes is full of normal people and Mexican as shit. The center of California is one giant shithole full of white trash and cholos, it's like Alabama but with fewer black people and marginally less incest. Overall I would rate it 9/10, not as cool as the PNW but not bad.
