you've posted this shit again and again and seem to really like urban/futuristic landscapes and architectures. that persistence is pretty impressive man, and i love sci-fi stuff too.
i was raised and live in tokyo so its landscapes look a bit boring to me, but still i feel that night landscapes from shuto freeway are actually futuristic. its not a tourist spot but the most futuristic one. if you came here, you should manage to drive along the freeway.

NYC density is glorious
>>53678656
I love the density, a lot of tourists are usually suprised by how dense it is. We're only getting denser, this city is always under construction somewhere.
>>53678818
this is how large cities should look like - maximum density(of course with some large green spaces like Central Park)
>>53679082
I agree, but we're one of the only cities to pull it off thanks to the amount of people and business here.

>>53679416
It's really cozy, in the more crowded areas you can actually feel it getting a little warmer.
>>53679318
Chinese megacities would be able to pull it off aswell but instead of building a dense city centre they are going with some cbd parks ...
like pic related - Guangzhou

It's so sad that they always go with the third world-lots of space between buildings-urbanization style in China. They have some god tier futuristic skyscraper architecture but fuck it up with the low density of buildings.
Nanjing Road looks still pretty decent and cyberpunk though, especially with the two background skyscrapers
>>53679944
also the street looked much better and more like Blade Runner before they took off the billboards, but I can't find decent pictures of it.
>>53679944
You should it's really nice if not really busy. It isn't dangerous either unless you go into a really shady neighborhood.
Posting more Christmas.

I would even love to live there, somewhere in the Upper West Side, if it wasn't so damn expensive. Some people might remember I'm that guy who really loves the somehow cozy 1990s New York and hopes that at least UWS and Midtown hasn't changed much socially since then

>tfw used it for five years as Twitter profile pic
it's weird to see it that big. Still beautiful after all this time tho
>>53680920
Besides the influx of hipsters it hasn't changed all that much. Crime has decreased a lot from the 90's though so some good change did happen. And yeah it's expensive as fuck, as someone who used to live around Midtown I was paying 3.5k a month for a studio apartment.
>>53681056
>3.5k a month for a studio apartment
holy fuck
Also it isn't that bad with the hipsters imo, I live in a town literally made out of students and the big majority is hipster to some degree. I seriously prefer this over socially challenged neighbourhoods as long as they don't become too much of a cliche.
also I really love your picture
>>53681150
Oh I don't hate hipsters either, they're everywhere now though. Even neighborhoods that used to be 100% black or hispanic are getting taken over. Hipsters drive up the value where ever they go.
>>53681339
I recommend Shake Shack to anyone that visits NYC, best burgers I've ever had. Be wary of the lines though.
Nyc, koreatown
NYC is my cityfu but I don't think I'll ever be brave enough to live there.
>>53681339
I actually though the hipster peak was around 2013-2014, since then the whole thing started to get weaker around here at least.
>>53681810

>you'll never live in glorious Shenzhen also China fucked up glorious Shenzhen with a very open CBD urbanization

>>53681810
It's still going strong here. Modern apartments are going up like pic related or old factories are getting repurposed as housing; hipsters go crazy for that.

Picture of the High Line from above. It's an old unused train line turned into a park.
>>53682170
Is it expensive as hell? I hear if you don't own a car and are willing to change your living habits up a bit its easy to adjust. Also, how is Hudson Yards coming along?
>>53681987
I get the hype for the factore repurposing, it can be really comfy. Reminds me of how they turned an old industrial complex in my hometown in Luxembourg into a hipster quartier full of museums and university faculties.
Sadly there aren't any decent pictures of the project, it's pretty big for this region tho
>>53682140
It's not as bad as Nanjing or Pudong but it could be much better, especially the southern area
>>53682406
Depends on your job. When I first got here I had literally zero job experience so I had the shittiest of jobs. However once you get on your feet any half decent job should pay more than enough to afford your own place. Prices are going up though so you'll probably have a harder time of making it now. Apartments below 1k a month are basically non existant, but if you live alone you should be able to afford it. Haven't checked on it in a while, but I think Hudson Yard is coming along fine; I can't wait for it to be finished though.

>>53683261
Imo it's more like iconic not generic, it's smooth, large and tall
WTC were "generic" too
>>53683369
It looked more generic in the other pic because the colors all blended into each other and everything looked the same shade of grey.
>>53683369
I don't know, the WTC really were a symbol of their time and of the city, even if they looked generic and objectively bad
The skyscraper you've shown though is just another one that looks like every single complex they're building and will be surpassed by a dozen other similar looking Chinese skyscrapers before the end of the deceny. Looks much better from this angle though.

It's weird, but most people actually have many thoughts in common and just never talk about it because they really think it might make oneself look autistic if the person starts talking about it. It's like the floor is lava or like you imagining as a kid a man running next to the highway trying to compete with your car. Only since the internet became a mass media anonymous people started talking about it, and soon everyone saw that many things are really common in everyone's heads

>how do you feel about the city?
In what way? I've lived here since I was 11, so growing up and spending my teenage years here was pretty nice.
People aren't generally that out going, but you will find your group of friends in no time. Food is getting better and better here, especially price wise, as a port city we get a lot of Asian influence so it's fun going to all the little Chinese/Phillipeno/Vietnamese/Japanese restaurants.
Summer in Seattle is GOAT btw, I'm sure you've heard that before, rest of the year the weather is absolute crap though, so I hope you enjoy the rain.
We are 30 minutes from the mountains, and an hour from surfing, so if you like to do either of those things then you'll enjoy it.
Price wise it costs a LOT to live here, especially since Amazon is now occupying South Lake Union.

>>53686221
Well I'm American so pay here, generally speaking, is low relative to what I'm used to. Income issues seem the same as everywhere else right now. Few fields with jobs available so young people are a bit hopeless. Then again my school is communications focused so I'm biased. I know one girl who works as a nurse (4 year degree) and she earns about as much as I would on minimum wage back home. Just about every girl I've talked to wants to become a flight attendant because its the best paying profession that they're aware of. It can be a bit grim imo.
I think the standard of living here is good though. The median quality of life here is about the same as where I came from, even if life day to day is fairly different.

Getting better, the lightrail is in as well (basically above ground subway), buses run all over, I personally use both everyday.
>is the rain as miserable as they say

>>53691262
>light rail
>above ground subway
In your dreams. I'm fine with any attempts to put in rail in America but most light rail projects are fucking trash. Not sure how yours is though. Honestly the cost of infrastructure is just so completely insane. The feds need to step in and just hire Cedar Point to build roller coasters along major thurofares. It would be cheaper and more exciting to boot.
>>53691576
>In your dreams.
Was just using laymans terms, but yeah, obviously not as expansive as a real subway system but in theory the practice is similar.
