Really hard to say. Brother Thelonious is one of my favorite right now. I think its like 9% alcohol which is nice for a dark beer since they can be hard to drink a lot of. Sierra Nevada is also one of my standbys if I want a decent beer.
If I'm drinking cheap beer to get drunk I'm not too picky. Even though I'm from St. Louis I hate Bud lights tho. Rather drink a Natty Light which doesn't have any flavor rather than piss-water BL's. We also have some decent local microbrews. Schlafly is good, but Urban Chestnut and Two Hands are better.

I'd go with a tradition-oriented marzen recipe, so no American hops, probably just hallertauer. I would like to get a noticeable bit of noble hop aroma and flavor though, because I think that would go well with the vegetal taste of pumpkin.

Let's say you buy an IPA that's 7% abv. Yeah same here craft brewering is on the rise in France and I know tons of obscure beers with weird names. Despite the hipster/whatever aspect of it most of them taste good, I know 3 beer cellars in my city (places selling bottled beers from all over the world, I don't how what to call that in English) and buy several every weeks they're worth it.
It's like wine it takes a while to forge one's taste, to know about beers, but once you are into it the possibilities are endless

I get them in Spain since I live near the border, it's an average lager but with a real taste of hemp/weed. No THC inside but you can taste the plant
