Istanbul was occupied by the Brits and Ottoman goverment was still in control of it during the Grand National Assembly.
So they decided to make Ankara capital because of it's strategic position and it had good transportation capabilities even during 1920s so we rolled with it.

Why Paris is the capital of France is really complicated.
At first it was a colony, Lutetia. It was defendable, and a nice place to hold.
Sadly, it was also ridden with dangerous filfth and hobos.
Under Rome, Lyon was the most developped city and the de facto capital of Gaul. Clovis had his capital in Tournai, and then Soissons.
Then the Kingdom of France was divided in a fuckton of different petty kingdoms and feudal lords who waged shit on each other. That's when the fucking vikings decided it was cool to come, and they started to besieged Paris.
