If one wished to enter into a field pertaining to international business, do you believe that it'd be a wise investment of time to learn Russian in advance, oh wise Merchant?
>>
There is really no reason to learn a foreign language (assuming english is your first - english is worth learning), unless it happens to fit your interests or your life revolves around it.

Yo will never learn it well without total immersion. My merchant friend is right.

You cannot learn Russian online other tahn some vocabulary and basic phrases. This is Ok for a tourist maybe (though why you would want to visit here I cannot imagine), but this is not OK for international business as you will just embarrass yourself. All Russians in international Business will speak English or another language anyway.

A foreigner can make good money in Russia if he knows a little language and understands the culture.

It's logistically close to both China and Europ, there are Russian-speaking countries with VERY cheap workforce, i.e. cheaper than China

so this >>53480063
if you plan to try your luck in around former USSR, it might be worthwhile
very few westerners speak it, I imagine that might be a serious advantage in any companies that have a Russian, or say Kazakhstani or Ukrainian branch

If you like russian literature or want to work in Rissia then yes

You can learn a lot by reading and listening and get to a level where you can consume content in the language naturally, though Russian being a complex language it will take a lot of effort. But you are right for production, you can't make conversation without a ton of first hand application of the language with native speakers.

I think it sounds nice desu I'm just intimidated that everyone will try to speak English to me regardless of how good my Dutch is. Some of you know English better than I do.

No, but if you want to get a hold of some Russian girl, then yes, because even a little bit of Russian from a foreigner will always do the trick when it comes to Russian young ladies
