He comes on the New Year night, not on Christmas. And it's not Santa, it's an abstract grand dad frost. But he looks like your Santa: red clothes and big white beard. He also has a grand daughter Snegurochka (the snow maiden literally). They hang together and appear together. Pic related.
Although they live separatelly. The grand dad frost lives in Vologda oblast in the forest, and Snegurochka lives in Kostroma in a hotel for some reason. Don't ask, I don't know why. I know it's more pagan then christian. I mean the New year.
On Christmas we jsut don't don nothing.
