Just don't go to German-speaking Switzerland if you're afraid of communication problems. They won't (or won't want to) understand English, they'll hate you for speaking High German and they'll make fun of you for speaking Swiss German poorly.

Finnish is a meme language that can't be mastered by non-natives, but at least they don't mind speaking English.
