I think its a good thing to be a father. Its not a moral failure to care for a child, on the contrary. People have been having children in their teens for CENTURIES. Better a father for cares for his kids and still does amazing in his classes, than a deadbeat who does neither. His daughter is lucky to have him.

Not buying it, on either count. There's plenty of programs for poorer families, since he's young he likely still has his expanded family alive to help him (which is how families were traditionally done). """Higher education""" is not the end-all and be-all of human life and in fact the huge glut of higher degrees hasn't much paid off for the millennial generation anyway, most don't get jobs remotely relevant to what they studied in that """higher education""". I got a bachelors degree and while it was okay and all, I'd much rather have a family right now.
That said I am sure he can get a higher degree and I am willing to bet he will go into it with a far more responsible and prudent eye ("what courses will better my ability to provide for my family?") than the average 18 year old who just wants a place to drink and get his dick wet.

So then what were you saying when you said that he "sacrificed his chances at higher education"? Sometimes its hard for men to step up to the proverbial plate. They don't carry a baby inside them so at first they might feel detached from the whole thing, especially if the mother has custody (as it sounds like she does). But I will never fault him for having a child in the first place and I will encourage him to see his child more if he is able. Those are both good things.

In my city there are a huge amount of opportunities in trade careers, so a school was set up for the last two years of high school for dropouts to get trade certificates while still finishing year 12 and getting their high school certificate.
I'm not kidding when I say 80% of the students there knocked up a girl/got knocked up themselves while at the school. Every year you get kids from there who fuck off to the gold coast because they got a slut pregnant who refuses to abort and they do not want to deal with it.
