Anything new on your air force situation? Last I heard you were down quite a few squadrons due to older planes coming to end of their service life, Tejas still not ready, HAL was unable to deliver their part on Rafale deal so you had to buy straight from Dasault, HAL being unable to deliver on FGFA so Suhkoi had to cut your work share to keep it on schedule, and apparently some update programs going on with the Su-30's, Mig-29's and Mirages

India's close with Russia and the US has to court India to balance PRC's influence in the region.
there is a worry about self reliance but still our Indigenous efforts vary case by case basis.

They are as close as India is willing to pay.
The USA gives access to UK/CAN/AUS pretty much to anything they want the majority of the time. e.g. there were British pilots flying the F117 before even the US Congress knew of its existence. That is true closeness.
>the US has to court India to balance PRC's influence in the region.

now when did i say that, you know full well why those P8i were sold and that EMALS transfer is likely provided we sign the logistics contracts which in themselves would be beneficial on their own, Pentagon's pushing as far enough as possible without forcing India into alienating itself from russia.
>They are as close as India is willing to pay.
why is this a surprise? Russia has fuck all strategic benefits to have bases in India so why would they push for a relationship like say with Syria.
>The USA gives access to UK/CAN/AUS
all those countries fall under ANZUS and NATO and they spare a lot of assets in the US's endevours e.g. Vietnam, if India had been co-signee to a similar treaty and sent assets for US's wars it'd be the same.
but this will never be because India never bites off more than it can chew with the no wars of aggression policy in the constitution.

Engines intakes are partially obscured. Radar blockers come with the advantage that they can be managed mid-flight to increase or decrease engine performance. S-Ducts can't be changed or digitally controlled. Seems like a tradeoff to me.
>engine nozzles not hidden
Agreed, but this is more relevant for IR signature, which is probably huge. Maybe they will cover the engines in future prototypes.
>>53113239

Outer coating is composite radar absorbent. Composites would still be better than titanium for strength/weight efficiency though.
All in all, PakFA seems like a solid 4.75G fighter, and a good replacement for RuAF older Su-27 and MiG-29. Not bad for a country that is pretty much broke.

From the report:
>no fundamental obstacles exist in the shaping design of the T-50 prototype, which might preclude its development into a genuine Very Low Observable design with constrained angular coverage.
Don't trust everything you read on /k/,most people there are idiots. PakFA will be a VLO aircraft, that is not comparable in stealth to F-35 or F-22, but ought to have better RCS than any 4th generation frame of comparable role.
