Do people in your country call the 1800's the "Victorian Era" or is this just a Brit thing?

>>
>>53073386
Yes, but only when referring to events that took place within the British Isles
>>
Historians and the like might occasionally call it Victorian Era here; but most people just refer to it as either the 1800s or the 19th century.
>>
>>53073472
I don't know
>>
Kinda, we call it "ère victorienne" when the action we describe takes place in the anglo world

Educated Americans do refer to the period as The Victorian period, yes.

That is to say, few Americans do.

If you're from the states and you're well read then you probably call it the Victorian Era.

Most plebs don't have a name for it though.
>>
>>53073472
We only say "Victorian" when referring to events that occurred in Great Britain

We have Gilded Age, Reconstruction, etc. for 19th century periods.
>>
we call it reform era and happy peace times
>>
>>53073386
only when talking about (perfidious) albion
when i think victoria in relation to ireland i think "famine queen" and not much else
>>
Its only a brit thing. Here, the XIX century is described as the age of the decadence of Spain.

Fucking Fernado VII, fuck Bourbons...
>>

The first part of the """"""""""""Victorian era"""""""""""" is called the industrial era and the second part the beautiful era. Because our economy finally restored after 150 years of misery. That is until world war 1 fucked it up.

The beautiful era is the same in all of continental europe and coincides with the Gilded age of the US and late Victorian of UK

>>
Nah, it's just generally known as the Russian Empire era.
>>
>>53073386
Generally when talking about 1875-1910-ish. It marks a time in US history of expansion, optimism, and prosperity. Prior to 1875 the Civil War and its immediate aftermath was the focus.
>>
>>53073386
We call it siglo diecinueve. The Victorian Era is exclusively used when talking about England.
>>
>>53073386
Only when talking about 19th century Britain. Otherwise, it's just the 19th century.

Usually we just say 19th century or the Industrial Era, 'reign of Queen Victoria' if we're talking about the Isles which we usually aren't because you're irrelevant and nobody likes you
>>
>>53073386
just a Brit thing
>>
In the US its generally only when referring to Britain. We do use it for architectural style and for dress though. In Columbus we have a neighborhood called Victorian Village, named for all the beautiful houses in that style.

In history though, 1830-1860 is generally called Antebellum and post-Civil War onwards is the Gilded Age
>>
>>53073480
