In the north of Portugal there's a carnival tradition where masked people start doing crazy shit in the streets/homes.

We have this thing that the whole country stops when eleven specific sweaty chimps run around a grad field after a ball.
Also every year the country only actually starts functioning after a bunda parade happens in February.
Also Toby cities take pride in being capitals of things like snooker, potato, pe-de-moleque, and other things sane people wouldn't take pride over.
Did I mention the February bunda parade? It happens every February and bundas parade on a street, some people refuse to work or study until it happens.

Every first friday of the moth many people set fire on a mix of a aromatic plant called wirakoa (diplostephium cinereum), along with plastic or sugar figurines, and some small sugar tables with symbols in relievo. The smoke that comes from this burned mix is called Koa, and according to those who practice this ritual, wathever the smoke touches is blessed, e.g. their cars, houses, even they believe their businesses will be blessed.
Some people often add llama's fetuses to burn along with the plants and sugar, all of this is wrapped in paper, and put over a brass.
In the places where the street markets are, the smoke is rather unpleasant, but "normal" people seem not to care.
