Since Peter the Great, Poland is in the crashzone between Germany and Russia. There is no point in competing against Germany, because in normal scenario they would crash us economically. Russia on the other hand is always an option, they have their "smuta" times in which they're weak and easy to conquer. They're the only possible place for Poland to expand and by expanding into Russia, it opens up the way for China to finally launch their cooperation with Poland, which they've been waiting for a long time.
Poland's geopolitical place is a curse and a blessing at the same time.
