>>

It's compulsory in Germany too
You have to be able to prove who you are after all
>>
I've literally been fined for not having my ID on me.

But I'm pretty it's only because I'm Arab. Normally they give you a warning or something.
>>
>>52899388
It's the same everywhere in europe because ids are our passports too

Come on, it's 2015!
With Trudeau you should be able to let the police know who you are and what your LGBT rights are!

The UK doesn't even have an ID card 2bh
>>
>>52903202
You can use a driving license too, I believe
>>
It's the same here. Apparently you have to carry ID with you AT ALL TIMES.
>>
>>52903299
yea that's basically our ID, although you still need a passport to travel by air within the country and a drivers licence doesn't count
>>
>>52903299
yes, we just have driving licence and passports, you don't have to carry them on you though
>>
>>52903422
Really? All you should need to board a domestic flight is is a firm handshake and a wink.

>There is no true national identity card in the United States of America, in the sense that there is no federal agency with nationwide jurisdiction that directly issues such cards to all American citizens for mandatory regular use. All legislative attempts to create one have failed due to tenacious opposition from liberal and conservative politicians alike, who regard the national identity card as the mark of a totalitarian society.[1]

literally can't make this shit up senpai

They're right, but nowadays it's pointless anyway, they know everything about everybody so they should accept ID cards.

That's basically the same reason why the UK doesn't have one, the Labour government tried to introduce it but people weren't having it
>>
>>52905210
We have state cards, why would we need anything else?
>>
Well, we also have more wiretaps in absolute numbers than the USA, Russia and China combined.

You have a driver's license, no? Is it regional or does it represent your entire country?
>>
>>52905422
We're also an internet chokepoint. We're pretty much an American spybase in Europe.

What's the difference between ID card and passport?
>>
>>52905609
ID cards are just simple passcards that are only valid in Europe.

A passport is a full blown travel document that you can use across the world.
>>
>>52905609
In the West "passport" means passport for foreign travel, it's not necessary inside native country. In Russia and Ukraine main "passports" are internal passports, compulsory IDs.
>>
I don't thinkt the police ever asks randomly for your ID, but you do get an extra fine when the police fines you for something and you don't have one on you.

This only applies to Dutch people, arabs/blacks/other scum are probably often randomly checked.

Don't need a ID card when every m3 is monitored by at least two CCTV camera's anyway.
>>
>>52906095
It's a free for all here desu.

You can do anything. The government can do anything. Like, we have no decryption orders, so you can just encrypt everything. And the police is allowed to hack any computer in the world.

It's not compulsory over here, but that's the only practical way to prove who you are without lugging along your passport or birth certificate. Most people carry their ID for police legitimization in case you're stopped.
>>
>>52905437
It's for the whole country, you're not forced to get one though (obviously) and you don't have to carry it with you
>>
>>52906158
that's bullshit though, they only cover town centres and really shitty council estates
