I'm a white teenage American living in Arizona who knows enough Spanish to get by. My stepmother is a pale 1/8 German Mexican who came to the states at the age of 14. I want to get a Mexican green card.
I know this sounds extremely edgy but what would you Mexicans think of a 6'0 white guy with blue eyes and muscular frame moving into your neighborhood permanently? How would you treat me?

Everyone is used to seeing white people, no matter what state you are in. Unless you are extremely pale or platinum blonde, you will not stand out a lot much outside if you speak Spanish or not, and if you do speak Spanish, if you have an accent or not.

Nah, I understand the historical context of that happening. I don't justify it, and I think it's a terrible thing, especially since it's effects are pretty much present today. But I don't hate Spaniards either, and I don't think anyone should, they are as much part of our culture as everyone else.
What we need to do is to stop this from happening instead of hating Spaniards.

I don't know if it's a thing among Belgians or not, but I had a friend from there and he learned good spanish in about a month. He could have conversations and all, and by the end of the year he was almost fluent.
I also knew two folks from Norway and none of them learned a single word in Spanish in the same time.
But I think it has more to do with the people than where they came from, I don't know.
