Slovaks have been like 1000 years under Magyar (and German) influence, completely rebuilt their language in 18th and 19th and 20th century on the basics of mainly Czech language. I'm not saying it's an artificial language, not at all, but it for sure has been influenced by so many other languages that there are very little original elements.
When it comes to vocabulary, I've heard somewhere that the most original Slavic words keeps Slovenian. When it comes to grammar, I think it would be some eastern language, Russian or Ukrainian. With yers and so on.
I double dare all the internet language experts telling me how genuine Slovak is, and also some of them telling me that all Slavs should understand Slovak perfectly, I double dare you to listen to an actual Slovak and understand him.
Probably you won't even think he is speaking Slavic language, lol. First of all, Czech and Slovak, as the only Slavic languages, has the first syllable accent, making them hardly understandable for other Slavs. That's just one point for the begining.
