It's more than what holidays you celebrate. It's in the language, we still use words which have clear pagan origin, we don't call it christmas but Yule. It's in the culture, sauna culture is still strong here, and there's certain kind of respect and mysticism related to Saunas still (it's sort of a holy place). A lot of it was orally passed through generations. Medieval writers who wrote down the tales for modern historians to read were great people for doing so, but unfortunately for research purposes only got some of it
