Many countries in Europe also followed us into two wars as a result of diplomatic strong-arming. The reason why we don't exercise much power over Europe is because we like you guys, and you share most of the same values as us. Britain has little power compared to the U.S. in Latin America, MENA, and Asia. Could Britain sail its navy near "Chinese territory" in the South China Sea without severe economic and diplomatic consequences? Doubtful. We're only able to do that because countries like China fear our power.

I never said we told the EU to put sanctions on Russia. It did have its own reasons for doing so--again, being a superpower does not mean absolute political authority worldwide. But, the EU as a whole, not Britain, to influence its own region (Europe) is very different from a single country doing the same halfway across the world.
And Russia's economy is actually pretty badly; their GDP feel by 4% last quarter, and the ruble is in the shitter.
Many countries in Europe did indeed follow us into Iraq and especially Afghanistan, most of them just could not contribute much due to puny militaries. "Clutching reins of global policeman" is what superpowers do, but Britain was only able to play a part due to the U.S.'s involvement.
Both China and us know that it wasn't a mistake, and China "knowing you won't do anything" is a result of your lack of power in the region. You have no reason to go near Asian waters because you would be unable to do much of anything even if you did, because of your smaller military.
