Face it, McDonalds is top quality food. I am not American but I eat McDonalds for at least 10 of my 42 meals per week, and at least 4 of those are breakfasts. It is delicious, filling, cheap, and you get friendly service.

I love McDonalds, but I only eat there twice or thrice a year because I know it's not healthy.
My friend worked there a few years ago and he assured me that there is no need to be concerned about quality there. He had to throw in the thrash absolutely everything that even slightly deviated from the norm.
But maybe it's because Slovakia doesn't really have any other fastfood burger chain. I ate once at burgerking here, but I liked McDonalds better.

I think it's more what the brand represents. Besides the zany local-cuisine headline-grabbers, there's pretty much zero difference in menu or layout between a McD restaurant in America to one in Australia, Taiwan, India, France, or the UK.
I think it's just the constant presence of the brand, unchanging and permanent, exactly the same wherever you look, that's offputting. The fact the brand is big, powerful, ubiquitous and rich enough to have soft power of its own, even more so.

The notion that someone would willingly, knowingly incorporate their food into their usual, regular food-choice in their head - shall I make something to eat, what's in the cupboards, there's some leftovers in the fridge, !!MCDONALDS!!, is kind of weird.
They sell 'breakfast' and it doesn't even taste good! Why would you want to pay to eat greasy shit for breakfast? How are you incorporating leaving your house, getting to the restaurant and consuming their 'breakfast' into your daily routine? I just can't process it, man.

In Israel, as you would expect from the Jews, a meal in McDonald's (a burger, large coke and fries) would cost you about 47 shekels (which is 12 dollars in non-meme currency).
