Why do americans do this??? Jesus Christ

I ate mcdonalds in canada, AMA

Actually I will answer the pressing question, they taste the same
>>
Do you never travel?

Sometimes you need food your stomach is familiar with.
>>
Don't you feel curious on how other countries do fast food from familiar joints?
Mind you I would prefer to try the local places.
>>

Yes, those horrible Americans.

And fast food is passable in Europe.

It's a shit hole, their historical buildings are tourist traps and their landscapes are shit. The Alps are good, that's about it.

desu the museums/Uffizi are pretty good if you don't spend a long ass time there because they get boring if you do, the landscapes are more beautiful than American ones (which are god-tier) in Siena. The shops are nice, the food is extremely good, and the towers are fun to climb.

The bad stuff is that the people have no fucking manners even to other Italians, people are unfriendly and cold even to other natives, there is shit and piss (human and dog) everywhere on the sidewalks and streets, and there is way to many muslims. Even the guards with assualt rifles looked fucking nervous there is so many muslims, the new influx of post-christmas tourists will worsen it.

Its not overrated and shitty buts its not a godland, America is better.

This. The food gets repetitive in Italy if you dont want to eat at expensive restaurants all the time.

The only time I eat mcdonalds is running around big cities like Müchen or so because its cheap, quick and familiar.
>>
>>52723206
It's kind of intresting looking at international chains in different nations because many nations have special items on their menus that are only in that nation. Like Micky Ds in russia has some shrimp sandwich that's only there.

It was an example, I've been to multiple places in Europe recently (London, Vienna, Berlin, Milan) and more longer ago (Paris, Venice, Rome, etc.) and the besides Berlin which was a total shithole which I regret going to, they were mostly nice like Florence in similar ways (nice food and landscapes, nice mueseums for quick trips) and sucked in similar ways (Why is there so many muslims I thought the Syrian refugees being a visible problem was a meme). I was trying to use one city as an example rather than writing a blog on my adventures in Europe.

Most people don't have enough money to stretch days or weeks into small cities or countryside unfortunately.

If we lived a few hours from one it would be different.
>>
>>52725703
yeah, here's the thing...

Instead of "seeing europe", you can go to one country for 1 month and actually experience it

So far, nearly all the best experiences I've had while travelling were far outside the big tourist traps. They're called that for a reason.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12781310

>OBJECTIVE:
The aim of this study was to evaluate the anger levels and their management in obese patients.

>METHODS:
A total of 103 obese women [51 with Binge Eating Disorder (BED) and 52 without BED] were included in the study and compared to 93 healthy controls. They were assessed with the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Eating Disorder Inventory-2 (EDI-2).

>RESULTS:
The BDI score is higher in obese subjects than in controls and obese binge eaters have higher levels of depression than obese patients without BED. Differences among the three groups can be found in almost all subscales of the EDI-2, even after controlling for the variable depression (BDI). For STAXI, the only difference among the three groups, which remains significant after controlling for depression, is the tendency to express anger outside (AX-OUT), which is higher in obese binge eaters. The correlation study highlights the importance of impulsivity in the group of obese binge eaters, whereas in obese patients without BED, the tendency toward anger suppression (AX-IN) is seen.

This

US Mcdonalds has notoriously awful ingredients, so sometimes we're curious what the real deal is like

But fast food goes well with traveling unfortunately especially for single people. Kind of embarrassing to go to a fancy restaurant alone. Also travelers are sometimes in a hurry or on the move, or too poor to eat fancy (tfw). Train stations , air ports and ferry stops usually have only fast food at food courts

I ate a lot of chicken salads at mcdonalds in Europe because I didn't have much money, felt the ingredients were safer than in the USA, and usually the service didn't have a language barrier
>>
>>52721906
I basically lived in Calgary this summer.
Everything tastes the same, but they use non-styrofoam cups for large sodas and it sucks.
Condensates all over, making it that much harder to grip, and leaves water marks if you don't have a coaster, which I never did.
Maybe Trudeau should Canada into 2 0 1 5 and change to styrofoam cups.
>>
>>52724745
isn't this just a matter of tomato sauce vs. ketchup. tomato sauce is always sweeter and less "spicy". less viscous too
>>
>>52725284
No I don't imagine every Euro city outside of capitals as a 500 people big village, I imagine it as every country having a bloated cap, many regional cities that are ~1/2 at best to 1/10th the size of the capital (only 2 or 3 of these if Scandinavia, many more down south except in Greece), and then (discounting suburbs as seperate towns/cities) the small villages. Anything beyond the regional cities is not worth it in my eyes as it costs quite a bit to vacation in Europe and I can't exactly stay for a whole fucking month as you said here >>52725845 because people have jobs and friends back home.
>>
I lived in Italy for 2 years and was dragged to McDonald's by my family maybe 3 or 4 times and it sucked every time. It was just depressing and bland. French McDonald's is very good though in comparison. To answer OP's question, I think some people have trouble adjusting to new cultures and just want something familiar, but it depends on the person.
