it looks easier than japanese IMO. I just watched a ton of chinese dramas at my friends house and borrowed some books. been doing that for 9 years since high school and i can understand and speak it pretty damn good. reading old shit with traditional characters is hard sometimes, but once you know like 7000 hanzis its pretty easy to read
