Literally none of that is true

There are parts of Russia that reach 40 celsius, the food is pretty decent especially pirogis, blini and olivier salad and people are generally unemotional and cold

This is actually true though, I was surprised at how few muscovites I met were actually Russian.

Really thin pancakes

Basically they are analogous to crepes

Usually they are rolled and filled with something. For breakfast usually they're filled with tvorog (sweet quark) or fruit and for lunch/dinner they can be filled with meat, mushrooms or caviar

Yeah, it may be shit for learning grammar but it's excellent for learning vocabulary. I'm using it for French and German

Doing Russian right now with Cyrillic. It's pretty fun, actually.
>>
>>52661096
Yeah it's surprisingly good, there's actual sections on grammar, though they don't do a very good job on explaining the rules.

I've been studying it for a while now already so this is a decent way to practice writing sentences for me

I just wish their were more vocal exercises
>>
>>52660975
Woah neat.

Any anons know where I can practise speaking German with real live Germans? I can find /deutsch/ threads on /int/ für reading und writing, and there are probably German IRC channels out there, but I want to practice listening and speaking.
>>
>>52661284
Trying to practice at this moment with a real german might be counterproductive.

There should be some free audio books that start from 0.

Not to sound demeaning but a children's audiobook in german would be an excellent starting point

If you do it on the web page proper there are grammar explanations to study prior to the lesson.

I'm lucky enough to have both my mutter und Omi as native speakers

I'd be a fucking master of this language

>>
>>52663923
But to be honest, I actually like French more than I do Spanish; I feel conflicted about learning Spanish over French; but it just feels to be more useful. Same goes with German, I will get conflicted between them.

>>

Oh, i didn't understand what you wanted to say because you conjugated the first two verbs in different times.
And yeah, i wanted to learn Polish as soon as it released on Duolingo, but my grandma is coming to stay a month here and she will teach me German, so i'll learn Polish later

Doing Russian right now.

you guys really need to get a grammar book or something.

I can't even imagine how hellish it must be for someone coming from a non-case language trying to use duolingo only.
>>
>>52665037
Well as I said in my post, I've been studying it for a while already.

I've been at it since way before duolingo even began to create a russian course.

I've tried using grammar charts and whatnot but they're pretty useless for Russian. The only thing that's helped me so far is analyzing the speech of native speakers. I've got a few of the cases understood pretty well now like accusative, instrumental, prepositional, still working on the others though.
>>
>>52664981

I know, but it's a pain.
>>
>>52665199
what?
it's literally about as complicated as doing it on the phone.
Don't be such a babby

>>52665168
you're a brave soul m8
Whatever works for you, but I'd give the grammar charts another go, they're actually quite helpful and pedagogues swear by them
>>
>>52660975
There's also "Sie liebt ihre Frau"
>>
>>52663923
I tried learning French. Got me drinking vickies for the night due to a sore throat from gargling semen so hard.
>>
>>52663779
You’re wrong, and duolingo is correct.
>>
>>52665570
Ihr seid Einwandfrei would be plural (you all are perfect), I think that's where anon's confusion stems from.
>>
>>52663779
Ihr is plural you.
>>
>>52665309
>brave soul

Perhaps. I mostly just love slavic languages, especially russian

The problem I have with the grammar charts is all they say is "ктo, чтo" "кoгo, чeгo" "кoмy, чeмy" and then a list of the corresponding declensions. It's useless to me because in English we just have "what?" and "who?", so I can't really make sense of what the chart is trying to explain
>>
>>52665737
That’s a valid complaint. These charts are retarded.
>>
>>52665764
I'm glad you understand my plight.

Every time I ask people about grammar they just say "here look at this handy dandy chart" and my reaction is always the same, "what the fuck am I supposed to do with this?"
>>
>>52665817

Just listen and read in Russian a lot, someday it's just gonna click. It's often like that for languages. you get things right eventually without learning the rules, through sheer experience.
>>
>>52665847
That's what I've been doing every day faм, it's literally the only thing that's helped me.

Native speakers also rarely can explain a rule or two to me, which is understandable because the rules are naturally pretty complex and they learn to use them subconsciously.

Basically I just talk to people a lot and read things on the internet. Step by step each case has been clicking for me, just like you said, so my hope is strong.
>>
>>52665737
right yeah, I guess I see it from a perspective of having a cased mother tongue...
>>
>>52663779
Ihr is also an archaic polite form of 'you' in singular

YOU'RE WRONG IT'S IMPOSSIBLE
>>
>>52668421
Find someone to practice with, that's what I did.
>>
>>52668387
I wouldn't worry about it too much, most people still sound like shit in most languages at that point. Just keep practicing until you can find a real life or online language partner. Native's correcting you is the best way to correct mistakes.

Are you trying to produce tones from your natural voice range or are you trying to imitate a native speaker? It's important not to force a tone of voice that isn't natural, even if you work your ass off either way people are going to recognize your accent, like most languages.
>>
How is the russian learning in Duolingo?

This sounds really weird. I can't think of a situation where someone would actually say that. It's mostly attributed to nouns, like in "Ihr habt einwandfreie Arbeit geleistet", meaning "You all did a perfect job".
