We invented the Imperial system - it's called Imperial because it was used across the British Empire. Feet, inches, furlongs, leagues, fathoms, pounds, ounces, we invented all that shit.
But in the 20th century we realised that everybody else on the planet was using metric, and that metric is actually a lot easier to work with because everything is divisible by 10 or 100.
Only the Americans have remained stupid enough to not make these basic realisations.
