Why are murricans still using this worthless and outdated system of measurement?
>>52514965
I don't know, why do you drive on the wrong side of the road?
>>52515065
Blame the Brits for that
>>52514965
cause all our measurements for kicking ass are already in inches
has the metric system been on the moon?
America: 1
Atheists: 0
Daily reminder that there are two kinds of countries: Those that use metric units and those that have been on the moon(=only United States of America)
>>52515234
Casual observation that the USSR, and China have also soft landed on the Moon succesfully.
>>52515336
fine then
countries that have been on Mars and those that use the metric system
I personally don't thing a soft landing of a probe counts as "been on"
you gotta put boots on the ground
>>52515218
>been on the moon
>>52515453
OK. I perfectly respect that. I was simply responding to the 'been on the moon', which says nothing about boots or humans.
There are some people who will argue with you that the USSR landed succesfully on Mars. But I am not one of them.
>>52515459
Mariner
Voyager
Viking
LRO
MRO
NEAR
the list goes on . NASA has a lot of acheivements. That raphic, though perhaps technically correct, is cherry-picked.
>>52514965
Why do you care?
You guys use tatami mats to measure room size.
>>52515218
Hahah
You think they use miles in the making of the space program?
All cientists are taught and use the metric system
>>52515234
What about Liberia and Myanmar.
>>52515459
which one of those countries exists
>>52516096
You know enough to give yourself an ego boost, but not enough to really help out.
This is the way it is today, but it has not always been so. There was a time when the US space program delt in Nautical miles and such. It was not until there was a spacecraft lost because of pathetic unit mix ups that there was a really serious focus in NASA on using the Metric system.
>>52515913
Because tatami here is common
metric is far more practical than imperial
>>52516261
Russia is pretty much USSR without gommunism
>>52515218
>has the metric system been on the moon?
Yes, the Apollo lunar guidance computer did calculations based on SI-units :^)
>>52514965
Old habits die hard.
why do you drive left side nips?
it is 2015
>>52514965
>Current year
>Not using buckets to measure distance
>>52516572
How many buckets between Helsingfors and Tampere?
>>52516569
Blame the Brits for that mate
Because it would cost shit-ton of money to change the system for a country of that size. And it will cost more everyday. I don't know why anyone would start to use that kind of system anyways...
>>52516846
Maybe because they want to remain "unique"
>>52514965
It's better
>>52520071
bait
>>52515218
NASA uses the metric system senpai
>>52520204
And you need to build a wall
>>52520125
truth
>>52520249
Yeah but still use the metric system
>>52514965
My HS actually asked us to always use the metric system. It's becoming used less and less even in America.
