Do you feel your country is in decline or on the rise?

In decline.
If America dies, our puppet states like the UK will fall with us.

I've heard rumors that the UK is preparing itself to switch sides and become a puppet of China though
>>
Rise
The people are pessimistic but they are wrong
>>
In decline. We have no industry and we're struggling(and failing) to make a service-based economy sustainable.

The UK is that senile old guy who thinks it's still 1950.
The US is the progressive liberal who thinks the world is nice and then when he gets pinched goes full retard and invades shit.

If the Democrats win we're going to look like Brazil demographically. If the Republicans win we'll look like Brazil economically.
>>
>>52323650
Haha we are going to look like Brazil either way.

Also, our recovery has stalled. With the dollar rising we are killing emerging markets. US manufacturing contracted three months in a row at the fastest pace since 2012. Service growth is the weakest in a year. Europe is slowing. Japan is Japan. No one is doing well.
Historically a year after the first hike the US economy stalls, so look out for a recession when the next president enters office.

Decline like all of Western Europe

I wish I was Polish or Baltic or something at least I'd have a better future to look forward to
>>
>>52323969
The economy has changed structurally. We're not the same type of country we once were, those manufacturing jobs are never coming back, and we have millions of people in the rust belt and rural areas that aren't educated enough for office type work but who now have no factory or unskilled labor jobs to go to either. I'm worried about what will happen to those places over time.
>>
>>52319953
In decline obviously. In all respects
>>
Not simply in decline, but its death is certain

Actually we are already a territory and not a country, we have failed completely to elect a national elite that is at least a little bit national, and not foreign lackeys.

However the people (volk) itself is also dying and Bulgarians will become a minority and completely lose control of the country within no more than 20 years. Even now so many bulgarians are gypsified, listening to chalga and watching turkish soap operas, still supporting NATO and the EUSSR islamic gommunizm. It's harder and harder to relate with my people.

>>52320782

I actually think of moving to Russia. It's a country that I could see myself being part of, and I won't mind marrying a russian qt and raising my children as Russians.

At least you're doing something about it instead of getting cucked by Merkel. Europe is losing 10 million people a year with all the immigration and "refugees."

America is on the rise nominally but in relative decline.

If the EU unifies into one state we'll immediately lose our first-place status. China's rise is more plausible, but there's no way to know if they can really "beat" us.

That being said, our military is so massive that it will be exceedingly difficult for any other state to challenge our dominance.
>>
>>52321958
DESU if either Brunei or Majaphit had pulled a Meiji, I'm sure Indonesia would be a lot more relevant today.
>>
>>52323650
The US will look like Brazil demographically regardless. The biggest drive of demographic change is not immigration, but the shrinking birthrates of white and black people.

That said, I don't personally think this is a bad thing. As we become more ethnically mixed, racial tensions will dissipate and social divides
will slowly close.

The future of cosmetic alteration also means that appearance will soon be no longer dependent on genetics.
>>
>>52324363
:(

I predict that you guys will eventually join a federation that supersedes the EU, simply because your size in comparison to Germany or Britain will essentially allow you to control the whole European continent.

Russia's position as an anti-Western counterweight isn't helping your country.
>>
>>52324546
You guys have been in decline since Koniggratz

I think Austria's fall is one of the saddest stories of history. Had things gone just a little bit differently, you guys would probably be as powerful and significant as France.

The Western world's decline started in the early 20th century and then WWII basically was the end of it. It's not dead yet, buy what's left is a shell.
>>
>>52326788
>racial tensions will dissipate

maybe

>social divides will slowly close

i wonder if you'll remember these foolish words when we're all living in fucking favelas, far away from the rich elite.

Decline, but not in military power or political relevancy, rather we lost our spirit and fellowship between the common man (sounds edgy, right).

I think it's something other major Western nations feel too, but living in America is no longer something special. The culture is based around media and work, and there isn't much room in between.

We're secure in our resources and economy well enough, but we live in a divided society. There really isn't a reason to be proud as an American when we're known to be a people who argue and bicker about every single issue (issues that continually pop up for no real reason other than to start an argument), and these debates never actually solve the issue. They simply serve for one political, ideological, or social party to 'beat' the other team and acquire security for those that agree with the 'right' side.

What good is military strength and economic and political power when life in the country is wasted on desire for money and petty debates?

Hell, we don't even celebrate holidays the same way anymore. The new up-and-coming holiday is Black Friday because of the opportunity to consume for cheap. It's not healthy, and I don't want to continue living in this kind of declining society of consumers who are out for themselves even though they live comfier lives than most.

TL;DR

>America is declining because its people are shit
>>
RIP me 1975
>>
>>52329369
In fairness to us, the divisions exist because of serious issues. If you think abortion is the murder of a child it's dumb to expect everyone to have a rational debate about it and be respectful and exhibit proper decorum, they think they're trying to save lives. Same with climate change. Democrats legitimately think parts of the US will be uninhabitable. They take things seriously and yet we're at intractable positions, so you have this never ending argument and deadlock. It's depressing but it makes sense.

The military strength is weird though because I always wonder what will happen when the volunteer military faces a casualty crisis. It's a small army, we can't take heavy losses. What happens when we do?

Decline.

Over 65 outnumbers under 15 by 300k
Population is dropping faster each year.

You guys are declining relative to the world if your economy is not growing 3.5% or faster. I doubt that your current growth will continue as the population drop accelerates.

http://www.economist.com/blogs/graphicdetail/2014/08/chinese-and-american-gdp-forecasts

You're welcome. As long as Western GDP growth is below world GDP growth the economic power will decline relative to the rest of the world.

Almost superb digits.

Eastern Europe is doing well and getting better, but you'll never make up for lost time and lost people. Your demographics are just too bad. Actually, every Western nation including America's demographics are going to be a drain on power and prosperity in the next couple decades.

The UK is objectively on the rise. We stopped declining in the late 70s. Proof:

>economy expanding on a nominal and per capita basis faster than our peer competitors. We're on course to be the largest economy in Europe for the first time in about a century.
>military is expanding: about to get better carrier strike capability than we had since the 60s, Royal Navy escort fleet set to expand for the first time since the 50s
>more overseas military bases - expanding East of Suez for the first time since the Empire
>expansion of soft power worldwide via foreign aid, BBC world service to more countries, more popular entertainment output than ever
>>
On the rise, especially in economy!
>>
>>52334214
>graph ends in 2007
>army weakest since 1790, navy in 2024 after all the spending will have fewer combatants than ever though the capability is improving since 2010, air force a complete and utter joke
>more supply bases, essentially the same thing as China
>expansion of humurous and depressing paki child rape gang stories

UK may be recently doing better than its peers, but it's a shadow of its former self.
>>

Societal decline
>>
>>52334631
Since 2000? Yep. Since oil crashed? Nope.

You guys are one of the biggest players in foreign policy now. You're cucking our incompetent president. In 1999 you guys were losing your own land to durkas, getting bombed, and blankly watching us destroy Serbia.

Putin's foreign policy has next to nothing to do with Russia's economy. Russia's economy is in recession because of oil and the blatant corruption the Russian people don't fix.

I would love Putin as our president, because our president does not have any control over the economy.
>>
>>52334671
Pretty much this. We have lost our rationality in politics and the easy gains of industrialization.
>>
>>52334661
>graph ends in 2007
Growth has been faster than all of the advanced economies and on par with the US since the recession.

>army weakest since 1790, navy in 2024 after all the spending will have fewer combatants than ever though the capability is improving since 2010, air force a complete and utter joke
This makes it clear you're an idiot. Taking just the air force as an example, the RAF is getting some serious enhancement over the next several years.

>more supply bases, essentially the same thing as China
Nah, you're wrong again. We're opening an Army base Central America (Belize) which includes a jungle warfare training centre, HMS Jufair in Bahrain which will be able to service aircraft carriers and destroyers, and we also came to an agreement with Kenya to establish a more permanent presence there.

>expansion of humurous and depressing paki child rape gang stories
You're resorting to that because you can't address my valid point about soft power.

>but it's a shadow of its former self.
You DO realise that *anything* the UK does will be seen that way because the the British Empire was the largest in history and such a remarkable achievement for a country so small?

You're a bit stupid so I'll spell it out to you. OP's asking whether your country is in decline or on the rise. OP isn't asking how your country compares to its historically most power period ~150 years ago.

On nearly every metric the UK is improving, both relative to its peers and relative to its recent past. It is undeniable that the UK is expanding its global presence.

Our glory days will never come back, we are on a slow and unavoidable decline ;_;
