Thanks for the best answer. Personally to me C is not intuitive at all, and it makes following all this talk irritating. I can't "feel" the C temperatures just from reading them the way I can with F.

In C, 40 degrees is considered to be hot, whcih seems odd because 40 isn't that high of a number. In USA (F scale) 40 degrees would be considered to be pretty cool, maybe wear a light coat. It gets hot around 80-100 or so. To me it makes sense to have the temperature go up to 100.

Metric throws out the baby with the bathwater sometimes.

If I made my own scale I would make 100 be the hottest weather recorded and the 0 be the coldest.
>>
>>52304420
>If I made my own scale I would make 100 be the hottest weather recorded and the 0 be the coldest.

Actually I would make 110 be the hottest ever recorded and -10 be the coldest. So that way you can hit that 0 or 100 mark and know you are right up there with some of the most extreme weather.
>>
>>52304420
But that would work m8.
It would be a permanently increasing scale which woul make the scape obsolete every few years. Celcius makes the most sense. If you dont like it just use Joules

1 degree outside.

Feels good man.
>>
>>52304449

It wouldn't be permanently increasing it would be set at the time I made it. Then if global warming makes the scale go up you can use it as proof..."oh no global warming is making the hottest temperatures go up and up".

Celsius I think is dumb because unless you are boiling water nobody cares about most of the numbers. You never use more than half of the 0-100 numbers unless you are trying to make pasta. Come on/
>>
>>52304420
>Personally to me C is not intuitive at all, and it makes following all this talk irritating. I can't "feel" the C temperatures just from reading them the way I can with F.

That's because you never grew up with it. Similarly, I can't 'feel' the heat in F because I live in the first world and use Celsius.
>>
>>52304500

I feel like its a good idea and it makes it very intuitive.

Just because we are 80% water doesn't mean we should base our temperature scale on water. Our weather scale should be based on our actual lives and the temperatures we experience. I don't want to try to translate the temperature outside to how close water would be to boiling. That makes no sense and no its not intuitive at all. Maybe if you are raised on C but everyone else, nope. Nobody steps outside and things "wow its really warm I bet water would be 1/3 of the way between freezing and boiling right now!" No, they'd say "Wow this is pretty warm, maybe an 8 on a scale of 1-10".

It's the opposite for the rest of the world.

So you'd make it relative to something arbitrary, instead of a useful hard point like when water freezes and when it boils?

>>52304645
>Fahrenheit (symbol °F) is a temperature scale based on one proposed in 1724 by the German physicist Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit (1686–1736), after whom the scale is named. There exist several accounts of how he originally defined his scale. The lower defining point, 0 degrees, was established as the temperature of a solution of brine made from equal parts of ice and salt. Further limits were established as the melting point of water (32 degrees) and his best estimate of the average human body temperature (96 degrees, about 2-1/2 degrees less than modern measurements). The scale is now usually defined by two fixed points: the temperature at which water freezes into ice is defined as 32 degrees, and the boiling point of water is defined to be 212 degrees, a 180-degree separation, as defined at sea level and standard atmospheric pressure.
The same goes for F.

Face it, there aren't any real reasons why one scale is better than the other. The only thing you can really argue about is what you personally prefer, like >>52304607 >>52304420 does.

It's a convention in the end, if 40 is high then 40 is high. If 100 is high then 100 is high.

I don't know that unions are still that strong anymore. But in any case, I'm not a fully qualified tradesman, I'm just a labourer. Our rule at work is 38, out the gate. So not quite hot enough to call it off early.
>>
>>52304640

I dont think its arbitrary. In fact its much more relevant to real life than "boiling water". You have likely experienced 100 F in your life. You will never experience 100 C. Basing it on water boiling is what is arbitrary imho.

>>
>>52304607
It's based on water properties tied with the way temperature makes it behave. 0C indicates that water freezes at this temperature - gives you the exact information right away.
Also, whatever >>52304705 says.

Also also, if you want a really accurate temperature reading for a person, the bare bones number ain't saying shit. 2 degrees can be felt different if the atmospheric pressure is different, there's wind and different relative humidity (the so called "chill effect") regardless of what scale you use.

Yeah so the temperature can go over 100 if need be, just like C and F both do now. You don't have to stop at 100 but 100 should be based on what people actually experience not something irrelevant like water boiling.

Just my opinion though as someone who doesn't really care for C scale, maybe you disagree,

I'm >>52307708 and the coldest I've experienced was -20 and that was comfortable in a jacket.

I don't really think there is a temp anywhere but Antarctica that would make me have to go inside if I'm properly clothed. It would be weather conditions that would do it, like a blizzard. Basically its what's hitting your face that will break you.

>>52308007

I've been in 42 degrees in Thailand and basically couldn't move. Had to make a trip each day to get food and that was a real struggle. I was more acclimated to heat then though, it was still hell.

This can't be right

Does anyone else from ADELAIDE/MELBOURNE (hot cities) ever feel that when it gets above 40 degrees it actually gets nicer to be outside. Like I went for a ride @ 2pm today in Adelaide. It was like 42 or something but it was actually really nice.
>>
>>52308029
What are temperature fluctuations like there? Right now we seem to be getting a lot of 30-40 degree days split up with 20-something degree days. It's ridiculous.
>>
>>52308052

It is when you haven't been above ~15 degrees for almost 2 years.

>>
>>52308085
winter has begun here so it's not very hot here. it's actually the perfect climate. doesn't fluctuate much. pretty much in the 20s range all day. in the night it gets a bit colder but it doesn't matter cuz i'm indoors.

A Swedish one funnily enough

I remembered a little Swedish from my time there which instantly made her like me and find me hilarious. From meeting her in the club (both smashed already) it took about 45 mins before we were in my hotel room fucking
>>
>>52308335
No no, I mean literal whores. You know. Cheap, oriental, the reason too many white people go to Thailand whores.

>>52308392

Yeah one of the dancers at a bar was eyeing me up something fierce so I just paid the $10ish bar fee for taking her out and fucked her for free.

The condom broke and I'm telling you now, getting the medical report for my NZ VISA saying "no aids" was one of the biggest reliefs of my life.

Incredible lay though. She put the condom on with her mouth and the hotel room was mirrored all round. Literally fucked her like that American pyscho scene but with all round view and above too.

See now that's funny to me. All the time I hear about how hookers, especially Asian ones, are swimming with diseases. But everybody I talk to that fucks Thai whores seems to miraculously have a clean bill of health and everybody I talk to that gets STDs gets them from fucking women they didn't pay for.
>>
>>52308546

Honestly I wouldn't risk anything and chances are we're just lucky bastards. I'm sure there are 10 bad stories for every one of my good ones.

That said, its in the girl's own interests to stay clean so I'm sure they do put an effort into it. They can't make money if their pussy smells like a corpse.

Normal girls are more likely to have sex without a condom than a hooker too
>>
>>52308613
I've fucked a few whores and have never been sick, so my experiences are similar.
>Normal girls are more likely to have sex without a condom than a hooker
Seems to be the case desu. I'm surprised they aren't more concerned about unwanted pregnancy, considering they can't all be on contraception.
>>
>>52308827

>they can't all be on contraception

Most of them probably are. Its free (or next to it) and for many like my gf it cuts down a lot of period hassle too.

I think a nice 10 Celsius (50 burgers) is the ideal temperature. Jeans and a jacket should be all you need to be comfortable outside and not too cold

Celsius is intuitive as fuck to us... you'd be arguing the same too if you had been taught and raised with it, just like you have with Fahrenheit. Personally, I find Fahrenhet considerably more difficult.

in my state it never goes above 24-ish°C, but the humidity hovers at 90-100% in the summer.
The humidity is far, far worse than the heat. I've been to Southern California during summer and it felt like nothing in comparison.
