That doesn't exist

Seriously tho all the videos of Louisiana people speaking French I've seen were hard as fuck to understand. English words everywhere, it sounds like French spoken by an American guys who never heard of French before
I guess I'm glad parts of French culture remain there, but the language is pretty much gone. Not trying either to do the "lemme tell you about your country" to you, but I've seen shit tons of those videos
>>
I think the best thing to do when visiting Paris is to not be enthusiastic. Everybody knows many French people are rude. If you anticipate it, then once you face it, it's not too bad.
>>
>>52249658
Of t.bh you meant I guess
It's pêh, pour être honnête
What you said would be "d'être honnête" ? It's not correct there
Both are translated by "to be honnest" in English but they don't mean the same thing in French

Because 1) you're generalising (why won't them mexicans learn to speak proper god-DERM english?), and 2) English is the cuckest language of them all that's not an actual pidgin. I mean, it's the product of a massive French/Latin/German orgy to begin with, and just gobbles up any and every word it likes into its gaping maw.

>>
>>52249961
>but everyone else in the world just snickers or berates anyone attempting their own language?
That's not true at all. All throughout asia they are very happy and impressed when people try to learn their languages. It's mostly just stuck up frenchies who berate people for trying to learn their language as far as I know. And other euros just speak english rather than practice their language with people, but I havent heard of them berating people.
>>
>>52250168
I don't know, because i've never seen this
Sure I've often joked about people with broken French on TV, internet etc but otherwise never with someone trying to speak French to me. Nor I have ever seen someone do it, or a foreigners being bullied for his accent in front of me. The only place I've seen those stories is here actually.
Our cuntish reputation comes from somewhere for sure, but mostly cultural differences. Like tourists getting mad because the waiter/baker/whatever is rude with them when they didn't even say hello or bonjour. Maybe it's normal for them to enter a shop, order around and leave, but not here. It's one of many example I've seen
>>

Russian language has no dialects to get new words from. All former Empire/Soviet states no longer provide new words for mother Russia. Over 70% of all new words is always the loanwords. Russian language will be full of western words in 50-100 years, and maybe even adopt latin alphabet.

There are people who suddenly have an idea your country is great for a reason. Then they become one of these -boos. They study language "to read literature and dig the culture". Unfortunately, such poor souls often have misconceptions about your country and their interest looks a bit (or a lot) weird. "Cool polyglotes" are rare spieces.

Dutch, Swedes and Finns are usually fluent in English if they are under 40.

Germans often know some English but aren't really fluent, they overestimate their abilities. Austrians and Swiss usually can't speak any so learning German is useful for those countries.

Am i the only autist that learns a language not because it's useful or has many books and shit written on that language, but only because the language itself is interesting? I learned French and Norwegian just because i think they sound nice and because their grammar is cool. I'll probably learn Tupi-Guarani or Polish even though one is basicaly Brazilian Latin and the other is weird as fuck

Why are French people so elitist about their language. The other day in a language thread a couple Frenchies were absolutely livid that French was considered a relatively easy language for English speakers to learn. It's like they're insulted if you don't put their language on a golden pedestal.

Most French people I've met online and as tourists in my province have been super nice. I'm sure there's plenty of rude people in France, as there are plenty of rude people anywhere, but I at least know there's some very good ones too. One of my favourite people in the world is French, but I fear she may be dead.

All in all you guys are alright and I wish I'd had better teachers in French class during school so I could have learned your language properly and not given up on it in 9th grade when it was no longer a mandatory subject.
>>
>Someone takes the time to learn another language just to be mocked by native speakers.
Disgusting.
About how i feel when a foreigner try to learn Spanish.
I actually feel honored. There's a lot of people from U.S.A who come to Mexico and they speak English, I really hate that, they don't event try an expect YOU to speak English. So, when someone is making the effort to learn Spanish I feel good and happy to help them. I don't care about their pronunciation.

>>

Mostly comes from the insecurity of Anglo dominance

Also French society is breaking down due to so much multiculturalism so they latch onto their language as the last bastion of their 'culture'

Someone I became close with online. She was ill and went into hospital for surgery; she was only supposed to be gone for a few weeks, and it's now been a year since I last heard from her. It doesn't really happen too much. Once there was a chinese exchange student in my high school, she learned the basics in like 6 months. That was pretty creepy as she could spy on anybody. All the other foreigners just used english.

Later I had a welsh teacher who actually knew the language well (had been here for years) but was still extremely hesitant to use it. Whether he had bad experiences or was a perfectionist, I don't know.

So I suppose I feel very surprised. With the exception of russians and estonians since you can tell from their accents and choice of words how long they've been here.

no retard, youre still not getting it

in nearly every other country, the people there understand that speaking someone else language is challenging, and they do their best to accommodate non native speakers

the french, however, tend to consider those who speak french with anything other than a french accent "incorrect" seemingly oblivious to the fact that when people say that the french had "good" english, they are leaving out the unspoken aspect of "except for that atrocious accent"
