Germany isn't a real country. Germany is a region. It was only very recently that a spiked sperglord decided to unite a bunch of German-speaking countries together and just call it Germany/Deutschland.

I know that but we aren't calling ourselves germania because we know 1) germany doesn't even cover all parts of the original germanic settlements (for example those in modern day denmark and sweden) and 2) not all german tribes were actually germanics (the bavarians are most likely just germanized slavs and celts).
We call ourselves Deutsch which comes from diutisc which means "from the people". The people meaning the tribes that spoke the west germanic languages and not all germanics.
All other germanics acknowledged this and call us deutsch or tsyk (which also comes from diutisc), only you anglos started to call us germania/germany.

Germanic/germania isn't really Latin, it's origin is unknown and it is likely that it came from the name of a Germanic tribe.

German was used as a term for our ethnic group as early as the 12th century, first mentioned in a poem of Walther von der Vogelweide in which he briefly mentions the "deutsche Land" (german lands). Us uniting into a single country was inevitable and had to happen at one point.

Some countries in europe call us after just one of our tribes. You guys and some other latins name us after the allemannian tribe, the finnish and estonians after the saxon tribe.
The slavs call us "the mute ones" or "the dumb ones" (depending on how you want to translate the origin of the word) because didn't speak their language.
And I don't even know what the baltic names for our country means.
The rest make the same mistake as the anglos and calls us after germania.
