m8, in America a steak house is considered luxury, I have been there and if you want to eat decently you have to spend a lot of money. A wine that in Spain costs 12 euros in a restaurant it's over 80 dollars in Burgerland.

Pot pies are very common here, especially amongst the poor. Can buy a meat and vegetable pie for about a dollar at any grocery store. Kidney is specifically an ingredient that isn't on any grocery list anywhere in the country. Good luck finding a store to sell it.

i will admit that it's much easier to find portuguese products here as opposed to spanish (although paella is becoming quite popular here) due to the much larger portuguese diaspora, especially on the east coast and california.

overall though you are quite ignorant about the country, and should probably dial back the level of which you think you know it

"Indian" food isn't really Indian. Curry is said to have been invented when a British officer tried to explain a roast dinner to natives, meat and vegetables in a sauce, which got interpreted very differently. A lot of the dishes were invented on the British isles as well.

Like how "Chinese" food isn't Chinese and didn't exist before it was created in America.
