1) Because of "muh ancient culture that is unique and so fucking important". Miss world Finland was going to dress in the Sami costume http://yle.fi/uutiset/suomen_miss_maailma_-kilpailija_edustaa_pilailupuodin_lapinpuvussa/8493787 as stated here but Samis got butthurt because "that's not real and authentic Sami costume" even though it's the one that everyone associates with Samis. The organizers then asked Samis to lend/give/sell an authentic costume so that they could be proud about it and Sami representatives were butthurt again for no apparent reason.
2) Samis want Finland to sign ILO 169, this would give them a lot more power to influence what happens in Lapland and naturally when someone gains power (Samis), someone loses it (Finns).
