My family doesn't do the traditional Christmas dinner.

We smoke a brisket and some ribs on Christmas, and have sides that accompany that.

For traditional Christmas dinner (which we do every few years), we eat ham, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, mashed potatoes, rolls, sweet potato pie, deviled eggs, cranberry sauce, egg nog, and some hard liquor.
>>
>>51976662
Blame the britbongs, they made this survey.Tbh everyone refers to you as Holland in informal speech.

Key findings:

The US tops the list narrowly, with the most calorific Christmas spread.
The UK trails by just two calories, taking the European title of most calorific.
France is a close third.
Lithuania, where the Christmas Eve supper is a traditionally modest affair, wins the title of healthiest of those European countries observed.
The Czech Republic isn’t far behind as second healthiest In Europe.
A KFC box meal has been the Christmas custom for many in Japan since the 1970s. A meal rather than a feast, this fast food staple ironically places Japan’s meal as the least calorific of the countries observed.

>Rinse a small coffee mug (or, indeed, a white ceramic Tom & Jerry cup) with boiling water to warm it and discard the water. Add the batter, cognac and rum to the cup and fill with hot milk. Garnish with a mixture of 2 parts freshly grated nutmeg to 1 part each ground clove and ground allspice.

The sweetness is really up to you (well if you make your own)
Like by putting dark chocolate instead of nutella-like paste it'll be far less sweet, you can put less sugar in the génoise too
I understand you tho this dessert weighs on the stomach quickly so if it's too sweet it'll be even worse
>>
I call bullshit on that map. No fucking way we are that low.

Usually I have 2 plates with fish(pickled herring, caloriebomb desu), smoked salmon, loads of potato and different sauces.

Then two plates of meat and more potatoes and sauce. As a side is eaten several sandwiches with lots of butter, ham and mustard.

Then afterwards it's candy time.

My grandma prefers goose and duck so we will probably cook one of those this year, in addition to the turkey.

If it was up to her though she'd just have goose or duck - she probably did when she was a bit younger and was cooking Xmas meals for her and her friend, rather than spending the day with us.

Based. We shave it before, with hot water and the such, we then tie his behind legs with some rope and then kill him with one hit of an axe (it has to be precise). Then we pull the rope, hang him upside down, cut his throat and main veins, collect the blood of course, and proceed to cut the meat and so on.

Yeah. We make a full banquet almost. Ham, chicken, beef, roast root vegetables, roast and mashed potatoes, peas and these balls of sausage meat, breadcrumbs, spices and garlic which we bake. Then for desert we usually have black forest gateaux, cheesecake, meringues, apple tart and all.

We always have a lot of people so we need to cater to everyone.

Alajuela. Leaving that aside it is literally the most CR thing to do, everybody has that relative in the country side who helps with that stuff. Is not my fault you leave in fucking Chepe surrounded by Nicas so you have that shitty Christmas.

Anyway, you are obviously baiting because one of the traditions of Cartago (a very rural town) is to kill many pigs in front of the Basilica and have a big "Christmas dinner, literally even televised.
>>
>>51979066
I have been living here(Cartago) just for one year, in anyway the most Costarican tradition in christmas is to prepare the tamales, not killing pigs
>>
>>51978469
Apparently for centuries people used to burn a huge log in their chimney during Christmas, big enough to last several days from Christmas to the New Year. The log is blessed and in some regions they poured wine on it for good harvests, or salt against witches etc. They also kept the ashes and use them to fertilize the fileds afterwards. Nowadays it has become a pastry because a lot of people don't have chimney anymore
It was a custom inherited from pagan rites from before Christianism and in relation with the winter solstice
