Public transport is not much better than America

Not in a good way though. Just over the top and continuous binge drinking to the point where you're paralytic and vomitting, and lots of chat drugs like meth and GHB are becoming common. so that means more violence and less fun nightlife (although MDMA is still the most popular). overall it's pretty safe though, I rarely have any trouble with drunks/iceheads.
Also I forgot to mention it's a nanny state, particularly in Sydney. They've completely fucked the nightlife there with the ridiculous lockout laws.
All that aside, I still wouldn't live anywhere else. It's a beautiful place.
