The church I went to growing up is cool and about as solid gothic revival as your gonna get in the US
this is a weird one, at least for what is the standard for churches in this region
>>51939462
That's a pretty simplistic statue by Italy's standards.

All the pointy bits fell off in a 'NorEaster though

i must say, american neo-gothic is amazing

>>51943067
>>51943110
Yes, I would say so, but I don't know for how much longer. Catholics are by far the largest religious group. Most of those being Poles or Italians, at least in my city. A lot Asians that move here are christian Filipinos. Although most people here would say that they are christian, I would say that they are bad or non-practicing Christians. With newer generations leaning to a more agnostic or atheistic outlook on religion.

You could still use them to cross the river, if you look closely there are people on the first "floor", but their first goal was water transportation yes
This one is 48m tall and 275m at its longest, really impressive when you are there, + pretty lighting bonus
Gisborough Priory is a ruined Augustinian priory in Guisborough in the borough of Redcar and Cleveland and ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1119 as the Priory of St Mary by the Norman feudal magnate Robert de Brus, also an ancestor of the Scottish king, Robert the Bruce. It became one of the richest monastic foundations in England with grants from the crown and bequests from de Brus, other nobles and gentry and local people of more modest means. Much of the Romanesque Norman priory was destroyed in a fire in 1289. It was rebuilt in the Gothic style on a grander scale over the following century. Its remains are regarded as among the finest surviving examples of early Gothic architecture in England.[1]
>>51945459
It's a lot of effort just for water transportation.

Dunkirk town hall
>>51945647
The fire was a pretty big incident here because Porvoo Cathedral is one of the most historically important and oldest churches in Finland.
The UK has lots of these clocktowers.
They probably used to be quite nice, but they are often now surrounded by tarmac and the areas they are in don't really feel very pedestrian.
I find them quite lame.
Stick a clock on top of a clocktwoer adjoined to a building. Don't just build a clocktower for the sake of having a clocktower
>>51945851
Accidental fire?
Turner Contemporary is one of the UK’s leading art galleries. Situated on Margate seafront, on the same site where Britain's best-loved painter[3] J. M. W. Turner stayed when visiting the town, Turner Contemporary presents a rolling programme of temporary exhibitions, events and learning opportunities which make intriguing links between historic and contemporary art.

Kamares Aqueduct, also known as the Bekir Pasha Aqueduct, is an aqueduct located in Larnaca, Cyprus. It was built in 1747. It is "most prominent" water supply ever built in Cyprus, says Tassos Mikropoulos.[1]

It's actually one of the biggest churches in the world iirc. Somehow it really isn't well known at all though.
The Belgian Palace of Justice suffers the same fate for some reason, it's the biggest thing built in the 19th century and the biggest courthouse in the world, bigger than St. Paul's Cathedral.
