I'm learning French and everything has gender. There is no neutral 'they', only a masculine and a feminine version depending on their gender.
Which makes me wonder, are Frenchies free from this annoying bullshit?

feminine+feminine = elles
masculine+feminine = ils
as soon as there is a masculine word involved, the plural personal pronoun will always be masculine
"on" isn't gendered

Why don't Anglos admit that they are wrong? Some things, such as grammatical gender and the letter A making an ah sound are just universal to Indo-Europeans outside of the land of perfidy.
>>51923822
Yeah but it usually refers to a group of people
>>51923752
So.. no?
>>51923834
Not our fault we're born in to a shit language that facilitates these cunts
>>51923861
indeed
however there are extremely rare "bi-gender" words, like après-midi or enfant, which can be masculine or feminine and therefore don't really have a genre besides the one you give them
most job names ending with -e, -iste or -logue are like this too

They don't have a word for "they" so there's not really a way of addressing people without just taking a 50/50 guess at their gender if they're looking a bit androgynous.
I lived in France for a year and spent a lot of time in gay bars / around lgbt people (including drag queens in fact) and didn't once come across any custom gender pronouns or anyone "non binary" or any of that shit
I don't know how they've created such a gay friendly society without pandering to that group of people

Every time they opened their mouth, France shoved a penis/vagina in it.

is this why you're learning it ?
I knew aussies were closeted homos and currently have a hard time accepting it (that's why the banter level has gone to shit lately)
>>51924409
I'm not OP, fgt.
>>51924480

>>51923752
whay if we dont know whether "they" masculine or feminine?
>>51924568
OP here, how would you call someone a faggot in French?
>>51924568
Of course you know where the gay bar is.
>>51923602
The only thing that would be close to 'they' in our language would be 'ceci' (it).
>>51924679
Just need to spot aussies.
>>51924679
u wanna root m8?
>>51924953
I'm about to go to sleep.
>>51924662
Pd
"Pèdè"
>>51923752
fucking patriarchy
>>51924662
that's an oxymoron
>>51925239
You mean a tautology?
>>51925239
I don't know if it was a failed insult or on purpose
>>51924788
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be pretty rude to refer to a person as 'ceci'?
In English it's perfectly polite to use 'they'. They might be pissed off that you can't tell what their gender is lmao but it's pretty polite otherwise.
>>51923602
Latin based languages are like that desu
>>51924580
You say ils. The rule is "Masculine wins by default" which every one of these feminist leftist French teachers complains about. Good.
>>51929850
french wimins no they place
>>51923602
Latin languages aren't difficult, gender comes naturally once you get one Latin language down.
