My Dad for years made our whole family watch TV with something like this. All it did was read the CC and if there was profanity it would mute it and sometimes come up with its own CC with the "bad word" replaced.

I remember when I was a kid, and a sex scene would come on in an American film my parents would often laugh comment on how artfully the director made sure that you couldn't see shit, and that nobody has sex with their bra on, under the sheets...
